Created for Upworthy to share on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. I created two different versions so that they would better fit these various platforms.
I was influenced by Japanese anime for my illustration of the cats, especially the black cat in Hayao Miyazaki's Kiki's Delivery Service. This was because I felt it was important to give a cute and innocent look for an animal that is often portrayed in as sinister and evil, leading to a disparity in adoption rates at shelters.
The copy was also sourced and written by myself. This image ended up becoming extremely popular, gaining over 20k likes and 27k shares on Facebook alone.
